iPhone Setup Walkthrough

iPhone XS and later · iOS 12.1 or newer

1
⚙️
Head into Cellular settings
Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM

Tap Settings from your home screen. Scroll to "Cellular" (or "Mobile Data" on some regions). Look for "Add eSIM" near the top — on iOS 15 and earlier this may say "Add Cellular Plan". Both take you to the same place.

2
📷
Let your camera do the work
Tap → Use QR Code

You'll see two options: Use QR Code or Enter Details Manually. Choose QR Code. Your iPhone camera opens. You don't need to switch to the Camera app — iOS handles this directly from Settings.

3
📩
Point at your SkyVenza email
Hold phone 15–25cm from the QR code

Open your SkyVenza purchase email on another device or print the QR code. Hold your iPhone camera steady 15–25cm away. Your phone will detect the eSIM profile automatically within a second or two. If it struggles, try better lighting or use the manual activation code shown in the email instead.

4
👉
Confirm the plan download
Tap → Add Cellular Plan → Continue

A popup shows the plan details. Tap "Add Cellular Plan". iOS then connects to the carrier server over WiFi and downloads the profile — typically 30 seconds. Keep WiFi on and stay on the screen. A spinner confirms it's working.

5
🏷
Tag this plan so you recognise it later
Choose a label like "SkyVenza" or your destination

iOS asks what to name the new line. Pick something you'll recognise quickly, like "Tokyo Trip", "Europe Data" or just "SkyVenza". You can rename it any time under Settings → Cellular → your eSIM.

6
▶️
Decide what each SIM does
Settings → Cellular → Default Voice · Default Data

iPhone asks which line handles calls and which handles data. For now, keep your home SIM as default for both. When you land at your destination, come back here and switch "Default Data" to your SkyVenza line. That's the only step you need to do on arrival.

Android Setup Walkthrough

Samsung Galaxy S20+ · Google Pixel 3+ · OnePlus 12 · Motorola Razr

🛠️

Menu names differ slightly between brands. Where they diverge, you'll see both paths labelled. Samsung uses SIM Manager. Pixel & OnePlus use Network & Internet.

1
⚙️
Find the SIM management screen
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → Add eSIM
Pixel / OnePlus: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → + icon

On either path you'll arrive at a screen listing your current SIMs with an option to add a new one. Tap it. If you see "Download SIM" or "Add eSIM" — that's the right button.

2
📷
Choose QR code scanning
Scan carrier QR code

Select the option to scan a QR code. Your camera opens within Settings. If you see a "Download manually" option too — keep that in mind as a fallback. It lets you type the activation code instead of scanning.

3
📩
Scan your SkyVenza QR code
Point camera steady at the code — 15–25cm away

Open your SkyVenza confirmation email on a second screen or laptop. Hold your Android camera level and steady. Scanning the original email gives better resolution than a screenshot. The profile info appears on-screen once detected.

4
⬇️
Download the profile
Tap → Confirm / Download

Accept the prompt and your phone downloads the eSIM profile directly from the carrier. Stay on WiFi. The download takes 30–60 seconds. A progress bar or spinner shows while it loads — don't lock your screen or switch apps during this.

5
🏷
Give the eSIM a name
Type something recognisable — "SkyVenza" or destination name

Android prompts you to name the new profile. Something specific like "Japan Data" or "Europe Trip" beats a generic label if you travel often and store multiple eSIMs.

6
📡
Set it as your data SIM on arrival
SIM Manager → Mobile Data → select your SkyVenza eSIM

Keep your home SIM active now. When you land at your destination, open SIM Manager (or Network & Internet) and switch mobile data to the SkyVenza eSIM. Also switch data roaming ON for that line — without this toggle, data will not flow even if the eSIM is active and connected.

📷
The QR code refuses to scan
Scanning issues are almost always about distance, lighting, or image quality.
1
Scan from the original email
Do not use a screenshot — compressed images lose QR accuracy. Open the SkyVenza email directly.
2
Adjust your distance
Hold the phone 15–25cm from the code. Too close or too far both cause failures.
3
Try a brighter environment
Low-contrast screens or dim rooms reduce scan accuracy. Increase screen brightness on the device showing the QR code.
4
Type the code manually
Every SkyVenza QR has a text activation code in the same email. Choose "Enter manually" and type it in — identical result to scanning.
🚫
"eSIM not supported" or "Unable to add" error
This almost always means the phone is carrier-locked or the profile was already installed.
1
Check your unlock status
Carrier-locked phones block third-party eSIMs. Call your carrier or go to Settings → General → About (iPhone) and look for "No SIM Restrictions".
2
Restart and retry
Temporary OS states sometimes block eSIM installation. A full restart clears them in most cases.
3
Check for double installation
Each SkyVenza QR code can only be activated once. If you've already scanned it successfully, it won't scan again — check your SIM list instead.
4
Update your OS
Very old iOS or Android versions occasionally block eSIM profiles from newer carriers. Update to the latest version and try again.
🏹
eSIM is installed but data won't connect
The most common cause is a missing roaming setting, not a faulty eSIM.
1
Set the eSIM as your data line
Go to SIM settings and explicitly choose the SkyVenza eSIM for mobile data. Simply having it installed is not enough.
2
Switch data roaming ON
Data roaming is off by default on most phones. Find the roaming toggle under your eSIM's settings and enable it.
3
Force a network scan
Toggle airplane mode off, wait 30 seconds, then toggle back on. This clears the network cache and forces a fresh connection.
4
Select the network manually
Settings → Cellular → Network Selection → switch off Automatic and pick a local carrier from the list.
⛔️
eSIM shows "No Service" or "Searching"
If you haven't travelled yet, this is completely expected and not a problem.
1
Not at destination yet?
"No Service" is normal when you're still in your home country. The destination eSIM only connects once you're in its coverage area.
2
Already at destination?
Wait 3–5 minutes after landing. Networks register new SIMs and it's not instant. Keep airplane mode off during this wait.
3
Try manual network selection
If waiting doesn't help, manually select a local carrier in your network settings instead of using automatic detection.
🗑️
eSIM was accidentally removed or deleted
Recovery options depend on whether the plan is set up for reinstallation.
1
Log into your SkyVenza account
Go to "My eSIMs" in your dashboard. If the plan supports re-download, you'll see a "Reinstall eSIM" button there.
2
Contact our support team
If reinstallation isn't available automatically, reach out. We can check your account and issue a replacement where the plan allows it.
3
What about unused data?
We assess these case by case. If significant data remained unused, we work to protect your remaining balance.
Problem not listed above?
